Where Cylon Raiders hide in the Tardis

We’ve been out with the new stroller and the two car seats twice since we picked them up from the shop last weekend. So far everyone we’ve encountered express amazement when we tell them the stroller + car seats fit in our car. One person in our apartment elevator said, “SUV?”, followed by “Really?!” when we told him our car is a small hatchback!

After our initial struggle to find a stroller that will fits in the trunk of our Golf GTI, we found the Baby Jogger City Select. It collapses into a rather shallow but tall dimension which fits easily into the trunk space with spaces for baby stuff or groceries.

33 Weeks

Yesterday I started washing some of the baby clothes we’ve been given, and when I opened the tumble drier all these tiny white socks came tumbling out like a cotton snow storm. Cute. Very cute. Until it took me forever and a day to bend down and pick them all up then I was cursing their little cotton socks.

Last week was probably my final “busy” week (but don’t I say that every week?): hospital appointment, OBGYN appointment, lunch in SoHo with my girls and a breastfeeding prep class at Tribeca Parenting. The hospital appointment went swimmingly, and the little Cylons are weighing in at an amazing 4lbs 4oz and 4lbs 1oz. These are great weights for singletons at +32 weeks let alone a duo of womb mates. Go hybrid life forms!!! My OBGYN was also very happy with how things are progressing. We’ve got passed 32 wks which is a big developmental milestone, and the next target is 35 wks and then 38 (still on for a scheduled c as the breech Cylon has not turned).

My girls lunch was awesome, and I felt very spoilt. It was a joint celebration with two other pregnant mamas-to-be and a bride-to-be. It was great to be around so much joy, and dim-sum. SoHo is a little far for me these days so I had to cab it there and back, which is probably a good thing as I was laden down with bags of La Colombe coffee (stockpiling for post invasion sleep interruptions). The breastfeeding class was also awesome, and I’m really glad that Alex came along (there were a fair few male partners there).

We’ve also started with serious baby prep in the flat. At the weekend we picked up (and fitted) the car seats (*gulp*) and the double stroller (*double gulp*), or Cylon raiders as Alex has named them. Alex cleared out and re-organized our storage closet so we can store all the Cylon paraphernalia that we don’t need yet.
