What I Made: July

I sewed for me this month! ME! We had a long weekend away in Maryland so I sewed myself two new Dahlia dresses for the trip. The Dahlia dress is hands down the most flattering and practical dress for me at this point. Love it. Going to make myself some longer sleeved ones for the fall.

For the girls I knocked out some shorts in the butterfly print (double gauze so perfect for this weather) and Rollerskate dresses that I cut out months ago!

For gifts I finished off a playmat and my dad’s birthday nightshirt.

July was a really good month for sewing.

What I made: June

First up, I did make it to the post office so all my gifts got mailed out! Go me!

June was a good sewing month. I made three Rey skirts, an Everyday  Skirt for me and sectional skirts for the girls. Because we all need Rey in our lives.

The girls skirts are so long they will definitely last until they get to watch StarWars! I really love the pockets and ease of my Eveyday Skirts. I plan on making another one from cord come the fall.

I battled with stretchy sports knit fabric and it won. Okay, I did managed to make a tennis dress and shorts each for N & Z, but there was so much swearing that I may never sew sports clothes again. But look how cute!

What I learnt from sewing sports fabric and watching the Sewing Bee episode on active wear is that buying is money well spent.

And finally, I sewed two Geraniums as baby gifts: a dress & a tunic.

I really like the Geranium in knit fabric BUT the bodice needs to be longer so that under the arms isn’t so nobbly.

Almost time to review July’s makes. Eeek!

What I Made: April & May

Looking through my photos I apparently sewed a lot of gifts, of  which I only managed to mail two. Maybe June is the month I make it to the Post Office. Ho Ho Ho!

For Zoey and Nomi I made them new summer pjs inspired by Sarah & Duck (quack), and some shorts made with double gauze.

I made the most beautiful Dahlia dress for myself in double gauze and I need to make more. I need a whole wardrobe full of Dahlias.

One of the girls took this photo in IKEA because when you make an amazing dress you head to IKEA!  I also sewed another Everyday Skirt, this time in a Charlie Harper penguin print as I am The Mother of Pingus.

I’ve been using up my fabric stash to sew some gifts: t-shirts, skirts and a nightshirt.

Looking back I sewed more than I thought I did but wish it has been more things for ME. I have a new dress pattern for Nomi and Zoey to try out this month, they need another set of summer pjs and some more shorts. Oh and tennis outfits.

What I Made: March

Patchwork pjs for Z & N. I cut these out before we went on holiday: trying to best use up the knits I had and they have come out pretty well. Next up on the pj front for the girls will be shorter summer ones. Last year Z wore her winter/fall pjs all summer long. Hoping to tempt her with some lighter Sarah & Duck themed pjs – because it gets quite hot here!

I LOVE these two items: Lisel + Co Maritime T-shirt and Everyday Skirt. The tee is in Cloud 9 knit (yellow stripes) and the skirt in soft cord I got on sale. I plan on making more of both. The skirt has the most perfect pockets I’ve ever come across. Roomy and not bulky.

I did rush to finish the tee (not happy with the hem) as I wanted to wear them out on a galavant but so so pleased with them.

Nomi took this photo.

I’m starting to sew up some thank you gifts. This tee in Cloud 9 stripes & Birch Fabric Charley Harper giraffes is darling.

This is Zoey’s picture of my new outfit.

Pingus in there new pjs and eating Easter chocolate.

A knit skirt for me. Again, cut out before we went on holiday and took an hour or so to sew.

Not a bad amount of items sewed for March, especially considering that my machine was in the shop being serviced for two weeks!
