My daughter: the Zoey-raptor

Okay, it’s not particularly flattering to compare little Zoey to a dinosaur but there is something about this dialogue from Jurassic Park that hold true. No?

Dr. Alan Grant: [about the velociraptors] What kind of metabolism do they have? What’s their growth rate?
Muldoon: They’re lethal at eight months, and I do mean lethal. I’ve hunted most things that can hunt you, but the way these things move…
Dr. Alan Grant: Fast for a biped?
Muldoon: Cheetah speed. Fifty, sixty miles an hour if they ever got out into the open, and they’re astonishing jumpers…
John Hammond: Yes, yes, yes. That’s why we’re taking extreme precautions.
[to Ellie]
John Hammond: The viewing area is over there, and…
Dr. Alan Grant: Do they show intelligence? With their brain cavity…
Muldoon: They show extraordinary intelligence, even problem-solving intelligent. Especially the big one. We bred eight originally, but when she came in she took over the pride and killed all but two of the others. That one… when she looks at you, you can see she’s working things out.

Between the crawling and the standing up she could be “lethal” at eight months. We now have a fence sectioning off the play area in the living room and she has been testing it out; looking for weaknesses. I think we are in trouble…

Wow. I love this. And believe me.. the jumping(climbing)? It happens. There’s no where that’s safe. You think you can put that glass of water on your side table? You’re wrong. Turn your back for three seconds and it’ll be all over the floor.

    Ahhh… dinosaurs. I mean.. babies. 🙂
